65TH REPUBLIC DAY CELEBRATIONS ( 26 Jan, 2014 )


The 65th Republic Day celebrations were organised in the School on 26th of January 2014. The School building was decorated from the main entrance at the gate to inside the campus with a colourful display of balloons in the Indian tri-colour and Rangoli. A unique aerial decoration of tri-colour balloons and hand crafted kandeels (paper lanterns) suspended mid-air made by students of the school were the highlight.
The one and a half hour long program was witnessed by parents, visitors, ex-students, students and staff of the institution. The viewers’ thoroughly enjoyed the program and clapped joyously at the end of every show.
The program started with the hoisting of the Indian National Flag by the Director-Madam R.Bhattacharjee in the presence of the Principal- Dr.Ms.Shakla Singh, Staff, Students, Parents and visitors. The unfurling of the National Flag was followed with the beat of the National Anthem following which a series of Cultural events were displayed. These included Patriotic Song, Dance and Theatre. The highlight of the event was a tableaux parade by the four houses representing different States of India. The tableaux were made creatively by the students and were accompanied by cultural performances and folk dances of the States being represented. All these events were interspersed with patriotic speeches by students and staff.
The event also included an award ceremony for all the winners of the Science and Social Science Project Displays, Sports Day events, etc. Awards, medals and certificates were given to the winning students by respected Director Madam along with her encouraging speech to the students. The event ended with a Vote of Thanks by the school Principal and making students realise the importance of Republic Day and good citizenship.
